ColoVista an estate style development built around a true Texas style mansion and golf course nestled above the Colorado River in the an area of “lost pines” just southeast of Bastrop.
In the 1980’s a man by the name of Leslie(Les) Appelt had a vision of building a 16,000 square foot mansion on the bluffs overlooking the Colorado river. Appelt made this dream turn into a reality and finished his private residence in 1986. On top of this vast mansion was also 200 acres of land to work with, so- with no previous experience- Appelt decided to design and open an 18-hole golf course! He accomplished this as well and the golf course opened in 1997. Appelt didn’t stop there he developed the Colovista neighborhood, as well as surrounding cottages for people visiting the golf course. His mansion is now a popular destination wedding and party venue.
